Interview with MAGDALENA MAŁOCHLEB-MISS POLONIA OF CRACOW 2014

I need to feel constant criticism to give 200% out of myself — an interview with Magdalena Małochleb, Miss Polonia of Cracow 2014. Magdalena Małochleb is the new Miss Polonia 2014 of Cracow. 22-year-old girl from Cracow is an exchange cashier. She has been working as a glamour model since her 14th birthday. She is interested in martial arts, fashion and car racing. In July, she will represent Cracow during the Miss Polonia of Lesser Poland Contest. In the interview, she talks about “the backstage” the contest, future plans and stereotype of the Miss Polonia. Natalia Łabuz: Do boys eat you now out of your hands?

Magdalena Małochleb: Any success among the boys ended with me in in high school. Since then I am surrounded only by men. I have to admit that guys have been paying marked attention to me during each activity which I have been making, no matter if it's running my car or walking, or working out at the gym. I've always liked to chat with men. In fact, I had a problem with getting in touch with women, but right now chances are aligned.

Is there any jealousy among you? As it was at the time of the election?

During the election of Miss Polonia of Cracow, I did not felt any rivalry between the girls, on the contrary – we supported each other, shared the previous experiences, advised in many cases. What was the affection between us in preparation, was the most visible after the announcement of the results, when I got from them sincere congratulations. It seems to me, that the greatest contribution to this situation had the organizers: Peter Szałański, Damian Masel and Richard Chmura, as well as choreographers: Rafał Mikoś and Bartłomie Gruszczak from Dance studio "Arthur Murray". They took care about the finalists in every possible way and at every turn stressed the importance of cooperation between us.

It sounds like a dream...

A dream? We spent a wonderful time in preparation, I've met tons of great people. I wish sincerely that every girl, who takes part in contests of this type, had a preparation or groupings similar to the way we had. We're all in touch and I can't imagine that any of these people would not be in my life now.

What did you want to achieve in the election?

To gain greater confidence, get rid of complexes and I managed it in one hundred percent.

But after all, you are a photo model and such a person should be naturally brave and aware of her or his beauty...

Yes, I am brave and conscious of my beauty, but still, you have to remember to feel not too confident. Modesty and inability to accept compliments are two qualities, thanks to which I shine among other women working in this sector. If someone praises me for all my work and expects that I am going to work more effectively, he will not reach the intended purpose, unfortunately. I need to feel constant criticism to give 200 percent out of myself. It is difficult to explain, but it's just how I work.

Aren't you afraid of Miss stereotype?

I would like to cut off from this stereotype, I have so many ideas for this year that I don't know where to start.

You give the impression of a very determined person. Would you take the offer for a photo session to the magazine for men?

I think that if got the proposition, I would agree without hesitation, but right now it is still too early for it. In 3-4 years, why not. I don't see anything wrong with the pictures of this type. I perceive photography as art, and in nudity the art is the most visible.

What was your first thought after the announcement of the results?

My emotions were so great that when I heard the phrase "he new Miss Polonia of Cracow is ... Magdalena Małochleb”, there was only emptiness in my mind. The first reaction was tears, which were inadvertently released to my eyes. Then came a feeling of happiness, which you can see in the pictures. It was a few days later that it dawned on me that I stayed this year's Miss. Anyway, my dad, while watching the photo story of the Gala, said: "If I didn't know that you had won, I would never recognize you on the photos". I have to add that my dad saw my photos from about a hundred sessions and it was unbelievable for him that his daughter may not control her facial expressions, because he had always been impressed by my professionalism.

What has changed in your life after becoming the Miss?

After the election of Miss Polonia of Cracow, I've became a more recognizable person. The winning has opened a lot of doors for me that were previously closed. I became an Ambassadress of the Swiss brand watches Aerowatch, I signed up a few cooperation agreements with clothing (Wake up & squat, the Idea of a Fix). I get a lot of propositions for cooperation for photo sessions, advertising campaigns, as well as participation in charity actions.

And what does Miss Polonia do every day in Cracow?

I am trained as a cashier and also I have the power to purchase and trade gold, which is in the "anti-money laundering" program. However, I'm not working in my field. Since I was 14, I have worked as a photo model, occasionally fashion model, and, recently, also choreographer and an organizer of the fashion shows. Everything connected with the world of fashion is in the circle of my interests. I can't imagine living without, for example, photo shooting. Right now I am preparing for the next stage of Miss Polonia of Lesser Poland, which will be held July 19th in Zakopane. For the title I will be competing with 17 other models from Lesser Poland. I hope that I will represent Cracow with pride and I will show what I can do.
