Fur-free Shops

The aim of the Fur Free Retailer campaign is to provide the buyers with reliable and complete information about stores' policy on fur. With such knowledge, consumers can make informed ethical shopping decisions. The campaign promotes the manufacturers and retailers who have committed themselves in writing to exclude real fur and any such accessories from their range. The action may also be supported by these brands that never even had natural fur products in their range, nevertheless, by taking a firm stand, they express their support for the promoted idea.
National Day Without Fur, celebrated each year on 25th November, is also a part of this campaign.
This year, it's been ten years since we established a National Day Without Fur. In previous years we have organized demonstrations, but this year we have something else - a kind of silent performance, forcing people to stop for a moment, to consider. This way, we wanted to draw the attention to the scale of animal death - Poland is the third manufacturer of fur in Europe. I must admit, however, that public awareness in this field is growing. Public opinion polls confirm that the prohibition of such breeding is supported primarily by women - says Małgorzata Szadkowska, the coordinator of the Fur-free Shops campaign in Poland.
Since 2013, the official representative of the Fur Free Alliance coalition in Poland is Otwarte Klatki association - a nationwide initiative for animal rights. Already more than three hundred twenty companies, including Polish brands, are involved in the Fur-free Shops campaign.
