THE METROPOLITAN OPERA IN KRAKOW!
It is the sixth time when Kijów Cinema invites us to a transmission of The Metropolitan Opera from New York. As every year, the operatic art enthusiasts will have an special opportunity to see worldwide known performances in an unique musical settings.

The magical world of opera, outstanding overtures, unrepeatable choreographies – that looks The Metropolitan Opera performance. What is more, it is a true essence of art, music and acting. Thanks to the latest technology and techniques of film making, audience have an opportunity to feel like they are a part of the show. It all makes that this event has become increasingly popular around the world and it has been watched by approximately 3.5 million people in more than 1,900 cinemas in 60 countries. Also in Kijów Cinema interest in opera season persists. Citizens of Krakow appreciate that spectacles – a good proof is that only in the last year it was sold more than 8,000 tickets. Moreover, all the time the organizers are trying hard to diversify the event. For example, in this season they invited to cooperation Krakow’s young musicians who care about the extraordinary atmosphere during breaks. All this is caused for the audience to let them feel the atmosphere that surrounds the Metropolitan Opera performances.

One of the most beautiful Czech operas draws from the folk tales about a water nymph who fallen in love with a man wanted to take human form. Change her into a woman could only Ježibaba, forest witch, but she expected a fee for that: it is a beautiful nymphs voice. Rusalka decided to be a women but she could not speak a word. This fairytale performance presented by MET is directed by specialist extremely believing in original staging. The Rusalka’s role will play first soprano of the USA - Renée Fleming and the role of the prince who felt in love with the water nymph will play Piotr Beczala.
